Cookies & Storage
This site uses no cookies and no analytics — one local-storage preference records your banner choice. Taiwan has no dedicated cookie statute; the banner is our own practice, stated here honestly.
The short version
This site sets no cookies. It stores exactly one item on your device: the choice you make in the banner — accepted, or rejected — in the local storage area of your browser. Nothing else is stored, nothing is measured, and nothing about your visit is sent anywhere.
The honest legal position
Taiwan’s data regime — the Personal Data Protection Act (個人資料保護法) — covers the processing of personal data, but the island currently has no dedicated cookie or e-consent statute on the European model. So the banner you saw on arrival is not compliance theater performed for a hidden Taiwanese legal mandate; it simply doesn’t exist. The banner is this site’s own practice: we think it is fair to tell you what is stored on your device and let you answer, and the Fair Trade Act’s insistence that businesses not misrepresent themselves supplies the spirit in which we do it.
What can end up on your device
| Item | Type | What it contains | Purpose | Duration | Provider |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
dii-consent-v1 | Local storage (not a cookie) | A version number, your choice (accepted or rejected), and a timestamp | Remembers your banner choice so it is not shown again | Until you clear it, or use the button below | This site, first-party |
There is no wider inventory to disclose. This site:
- sets no cookies of any kind, not even short-lived technical session cookies;
- runs no analytics or third-party tracking — no statistics package, no advertising pixel, no measurement code;
- makes no third-party requests once a page has loaded, and so sends nothing to advertising networks, fonts or media hosts.
What the choice actually changes
In one sense, honestly: only the nagging. This site has no analytics or third-party trackers to enable or block; the banner exists to make that fact visible rather than assumed. Rejecting the notice does not reduce any function — essays open, the inquiry form sends, links work. Because there is no instrument to install, there is also nothing that could be smuggled in after either choice.
Changing or removing your stored choice
Your current stored state:
Use the button to erase the stored preference — the banner will reappear, and you can answer differently:
Manual route, if you prefer your own hands on the controls: open your browser’s developer tools → Storage (or Application) → Local Storage → this site → delete the dii-consent-v1 key. Clearing the site’s data wholesale also works. In private windows and hardened browsers where storage is refused, the banner simply returns on each visit — a minor repetition, not a malfunction; the choice is still honored as far as your browser allows.
Where data from the form goes
The banner choice lives only on your device. The one place this site receives information is the inquiry form, whose handling under the PDPA is described on the privacy page.
